Zeus, with Dionysus and Hera, can train Carcinos and Scylla, two devastating naval myth units. Zeus and Poseidon's naval units can be a devastating offense force when used properly. Depends on how you want to build your naval civilization. I hope this advice suffices your incpient ignorance to the game, and strikes some glint in your memory, to forever cherish as the shimmer of a new beginning. Fish not for yourself, but for stopping enemy from fishing the immediate vicinity ( No, that doesnot mean you exhaust your wood and population with fishing ships, you cork! ) Play normal game otherwise. Sea of Worms is a particular map with a wormy touch to it. The arrow will raid your enemy's raiding missions, while Siege will defend your Fishing Ships from enemy raids AND destroy his docks when his fishing ships are killed. Nomad and Midgard dont really call for much navy, but getting a hand on those fishing spots becomes very very crucial if you want an upper hand over your enemy. No need to upgrade your navy, but upgrading land-army is crucial (like on other maps :P) Upgrade armoury as usual, making Weapons, Pierce, and Hack upgrades in order. I say, hit a ratio of 15% to 85% between navy and army. But make only enough navy to suffice control over the water. Bite me!) and seems to be effective psycologically. Making a transport ship to transport some villagers(or Norse infantry) over the other side to make an offensive stronghold is a popular tactic (Yes, I am making my own statistics. Fishing is a neccessity, but try hitting an optimum ratio between naval and land units right in the beginning. River Nile might be your worst nightmare in water-phobic tastes. Siege is the best shore-defense when you get to Heroic (Cheiroballistae if playing Attie) I know it sounds complicated on pixelated-paper. PIERCE Armour upgrade shoulds be the first to be upgraded (Duh!) while Hack Armour the last, with Weapons in between. No need to upgrade the land units above Heavy. Basically, go navy 90% and raid with 10% land-units on other islands. Always make towers on shores all round island, if feasible. Although, this does NOT mean you let your guard down. On the maps of Islands (Archipelago, VindlandsagaĪnd Team Migration and some I might have missed) your best bet is docks pumping upgraded navy with sparse strongholds on your respective islands. On ALL maps, fishing is a crucial alternative after hunting has been exhausted (Except in maps of Oasis and that sort.Just waste of time in early-game) There are a few naval maps in this game, one having 60% water with land on sides (Like a blue pancake on a yellow-china plate), the second has a sparse river cutting right in between, a consoidated island with few resources, and resource-islands far-off, a map with a maddening amount of fishing circles in water, situated in one corner of the map, while the rest are located on land with their fortresses alone and one with no Town-Center to begin with, but build one wherever you like, while the land is encircled by ocean on thre sides and on three sides when speaking of frozen wasteland with island maps of Archipelago and Team Migration Due to their worse pop efficiency, the Atl fleet is no match for that at pop limit. If all else fails, the enemy can simply garrison his ships until he has enough of them and then release them all at once and wipe the Atl fleet off the sea. They still cost 2 pop, so they are less pop efficient. Quoted from Colossus88AndRainyDayRa:Actually, early attie pwns water more so than eggy.Ĭuz atty can spam boats like a mother. But in return, they have less hp and attack. Greek do not have economic bonuses that help on water, but their arrow ships have the greatest range, a bonus that even outclasses the Norse higher arrow ship firepower. The other Norse gods are harder to play on water.Įggy sure is the ruling civ on water (like on pretty much all other maps), because they get their docks for so cheap, and the ability of fishing boats to construct additional docks means that it is near impossible to drive Eggy off water for good. This combines nicely with the higher Norse arrow ship firepower and his ability to get more and discounted armory upgrades for his arrow ships. Quoted from Squeoo:Norse are a little more complex as it requires a little more micro.Thor is very good on water, because his economic bonuses allow him to skip getting any land-based food and go for wood right away. starting with the crap that Andros wrote. Whoa, most replies here totally missed the subject of the question.
